“Following the principles of “best practices” in teaching, the book about Amanda (9781632905932, $25.49) uses the familiar subject to help children learn important facts in understanding mammals. The collaboration of Linda Ayers for content, Kathy Hudson illustrations, and having music arranged and produced by Mark Oblinger combine to offer a book that teaches and engages children. The book is the lyrics; there is a sheet music page, and a CD included. Repetition in these formats reinforces the content to ingrain the subject matter which results in learning that will remain through rigorous testing. The book is a good size, sturdy, and attractive. These qualities make it a good choice for individuals, classrooms, or library. It is certainly worth a read, and if you have musical talent, all the better for entertaining the young learner.
